

William (Bill) Thomas Eastwood, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Beacon Place in Greensboro. Born the oldest of four children in Astoria (Queens) New York to John and Grace Eastwood, William was a veteran serving four years in the United States Navy as a radio man on the USS Miller. William, along with his wife and children, moved down to NC in 1975 while working with Western Electric.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over five decades and was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians as well as the American Legion. As a member of these organizations, William worked tirelessly for many causes that were dear to his heart which included coordinating Operation Lamb annual tootsie roll drive to benefit the intellectually disabled. He also was a staunch supporter of the National Right To Life as well as the North Carolina Right To Life for which he made annual trips to both Raleigh and Washington nearly every year for the March For Life.
Throughout his tenure with these organizations, William was awarded several honors which include Knight of the year (Council 939), Golden Knight of the year (two times-Council 939), North Carolina Hibernian of the year, the Father Kimbrough Pro Life award from Room At The In of the Carolinas, and the 2019 Suzanne Wahl Memorial Award from the LAMB Foundation of NC, Inc.
William is preceded in death by both his parents and Sister Carol Hyer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Mary, along with his children, daughter Mary McCormack of Nokesville VA (Jeff), son William (Billy) Eastwood of Greensboro (Paige), and daughter Kathryn Eastwood of Greensboro; grandchildren Katie and Michael McCormack of Nokesville VA, Megan and Ryan Eastwood of Greensboro; brother John Eastwood of Bethpage NY (Anne), sister Grace Harte of Palm Bay FL (Alan), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends of Mr. Eastwood are invited to attend his viewing and receive the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro on 515 N. Elm St on Sunday March 31st, 2019 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro on Monday April 1st, 2019 at 11:00 am officiated by Father Paul Buchannan. Interment will follow immediately with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard at Westminster Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro.
