

On Monday September 29th, 2014 William (Bob) Robert Martin, Sr. went to be with Jesus and Momma. He spent the last 6 months of his life at Piedmont Crossing Retirement Center, in Thomasville, NC where he led some to Christ. Bob was a loving father, dedicated husband, devoted Christian, and forever a Marine.
He is survived by: Sons, Will Martin and spouse Yvonne, Michael Martin and spouse Brandi; daughters, Dawn Essick and spouse James, Annette Baxley and spouse Alan, Teresa Saucedo and Spouse Vic; sisters, Eileen Martin Coble and spouse Luther, and Martha Nell Wilson. He was preceded to Heaven by: his parents, Robert Manley and Meta Mcintosh Martin; his loving wife, Arlene Elizabeth Martin; son David Martin and sisters Eva Jeane Cooper and Doris Marie Thoma.
Bob was originally from Greensboro but spent much of his life in Thomasville. Bob has 9 grandchildren that he loved immensely and who loved him as well. Bob joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served with honor in the Korean War. After the Marines he became an entrepreneur as well as worked in the brick manufacturing industry. He was well known throughout the country as a manager and in product development. He touched many lives and all who knew him knew of the promise of salvation and how Christ worked in his life. He was proof of how good God is. He will be “Missed but not forgotten.”
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the East End Baptist Church, 377 Heath Church Rd., Lexington, NC 27292 conducted by the Reverend Tim Gainey. Entombment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum in Greensboro. The family will recieve friends at the church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
The family requests that any memorials be made in Bob’s memory to the East End Baptist Church.
