W.D. “Jim” Wilkinson III, 93, died on Friday, June 4, 2021 at his home at Friends Homes West. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Charlotte, the son of Willis D. Jr. and Gladys Brock Wilkinson. He was a graduate of Harry P. Harding High School in Charlotte, Brevard Junior College and UNC Chapel Hill. During three years in the US Army Infantry, he served with occupation forces in Germany and was editor of the Fifth Corps newspaper in Frankfurt.
Mr. Wilkinson was with Burlington Madison Yarn Co. at the time of his retirement in 1989. Most of his 33 years with Burlington Industries were spent in administrative positions with various divisions in New York sales offices.
He was a member of First Friends Meeting and a longtime volunteer with Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro. He retained an active interest in the alumni affairs of Brevard College.
Jim is survived by cousins; Peggy Ann Joyner of Greensboro and Dr. F. Belton Joyner Jr. of Bahama and many friends he had made over the years.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, 10:30 AM at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
