

D. Joyce Schwier Hart, 90, of Greensburg passed away on January 29, 2017. She was born on March 13, 1926 in Batesville, Indiana, the daughter of Holden Ray and Pearl Bohnert Schwier. Joyce was a 1944 graduate of New Point High School. Her first job was at the Shirt Factory where she made shirts for WWII; she retired from BCA-Federal Mogul after 30 years of service. Joyce married Gale Vandivier and together they had two children, Michelle and Thomas, Gale preceded her in death. She later married Norman Hart and he also preceded her in death. Joyce was a strong woman of faith and family. She was active in her grandchildren’s life and would pick them up from swimming to take them on afternoon picnics. She never came to visit them without bringing them a meal. She loved her flower gardens and watching the birds while sitting on the front porch. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was on the alter committee, Ruth’s Circle, Women’s Group, and even delivered bulletins to the elderly church members that couldn’t attend church.
Survivors include: Daughter- Shelly (Vincent) Grote; Son in Law- Marvin Grote; Grandchildren- Shawn (Rita) Grote, Kane (Samantha) Grote, Jillian (Vijay Sigamala) Grote, Angeleen (Henry) Rennekamp, Matthias Grote, Lukas Grote; Great Grandchildren- Katherine (Kate) Grote, Augustus (Gus) Grote, Leonard (Leo) Grote, Ellie Grote, Claire Grote, Waylon Grote, Emmitt Grote, Lanee Rennekamp, Kelby Rennekamp, Kendall Rennekamp, and Mason Rennekamp. She was preceded in death by: Parents; Husbands; Son- Thomas Lynn Vandivier.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rick Bell will be officiating.
