

Danny L. Hancock, age 65, of Greensburg, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Dan was born in Greensburg, Indiana, on September 9, 1949, to Lewis and Mary Lou (Scott) Hancock. He graduated from Burney High School in 1967 and attended Vincennes University. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Carol Cox, on October 18, 1969, and she survives.
Dan and Carol were blessed with three children, Amy (Stephen) Stringer, Kevin (Amy) Hancock, and Gregory Hancock. He loved being Papaw to his five grandchildren, Ryan, Brayden, and Grace Hancock, and Brett and Bryce Stringer. Other survivors include his brother, Mike (Linda) Hancock of Columbus, sister, Teresa (Doug) Vanderbur of Greensburg, along with several nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his mother, Mary Lou Hancock.
Dan was well-known in the business community. His career began at Union Bank & Trust in Greensburg as a loan officer. His career then led him to Greensburg Tool and Supply where he served as sales manager. His most recent employment was with Collection Associates, Inc. where he served as manager of new business development until his retirement in March, 2015.
He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Greensburg. He was a member of the Challengers Sunday School Class. He had a true passion for serving the Lord as deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher, and youth leader. He enjoyed serving on mission teams, having traveled to Haiti; Pass Christian, Mississippi; and Green Lake, Wisconsin.
Dan loved his participation with the Greensburg Area Emmaus Community, having served on numerous walk teams, its Board of Directors, and as Community Lay Director.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 5 at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church, Greensburg, with Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Greensburg Area Emmaus Community, or Oncology Care at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
