

Eloise Clapp went to her heavenly home peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Eloise was born on January 28, 1926, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Harry F. Cooke and Alice Kelley Cooke. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1944. On October 12, 1947, she married Raymond E. Clapp at Star Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2001.
Eloise is survived by a son, Richard Clapp and wife, Sara, Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter, Janice True and husband, Tom, Franklin, Indiana; daughter, Cathy Clapp, Jacksonville, Florida; and son-in-law, Kevin Whipple; grandchildren, Cathy Lynn Peacock and husband Alan; David Amick and wife Amber; Lynn Hart and husband Phil; Brian Spencer and wife Dana; Lauren Clapp, Emily Van Deman and husband Caleb; Keri Scudder and husband Ryan; and great-grandchildren David Peacock, Dylan Amick, Macy Scudder, Evan Peacock, Dawson Amick, Miley Scudder, Abi Amick, Brison Spencer, and Willa Van Deman. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and daughters Cheryl Ann Clapp and Carol Lynn Clapp Whipple.
Eloise spent her adult life living on the farm in the Star Church community. She loved her family and devoted her life giving to them and everyone she met. She continued to give away candy, smiles, lotions, and socks in later years at McKay Manor and Morning Pointe. She loved traveling, shopping, and watching Pacers games. She loved to shop all year long for Christmas gifts for her family. She was a blessing to everyone she met and continued being a positive witness of her faith even in her last days where she resided at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin.
She was a 70-year member of Star Baptist Church where she served as organist, pianist, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, clerk, and treasurer.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4PM – 8PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1 beginning at 11AM at the Star Baptist Church with Rev. Tom True officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of Decatur County.
