Harriett Elizabeth Shaffer

H. Elizabeth Small-Shaffer, 94, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Heritage House Nursing Home. Elizabeth was born on June 22, 1920 near Letts, the daughter of Roy and Mearl Small. In 1938 she graduated from Westport High School and went on to Marinell’s School of Cosmetology where she graduated from in 1942. Elizabeth married John Shaffer at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg on August 29, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1987.

Elizabeth worked for more than 50 years as a hairdresser, retiring in 1999 after owning her own hair salon known as Shaffer’s. She was a past member of the Hairdressers Association.

She is survived by her son Greg Shaffer of Greensburg, grandson Jordan Millis and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Mirian Lawson, and three brothers Byron, Lewis “Sid” and Marvin Small.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 10AM until the start of the funeral service 11AM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home.
