Jane Elizabeth Barley Bauer

Jane E. Bauer, 85, of Greensburg, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Jane was born on January 4, 1930 in Shelby County the daughter of Russell and Nellie (Young) Barley. Jane graduated from Greensburg High School, third in her class, in 1947. On June 1, 1952, she married Paul Bauer in Greensburg and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2002.

Jane became a member of the First Christian Church in the early 1940’s and served various offices and positions within the church over the years. She was a past member of the Alpha Alumnae Chapter Delta Theta Tau. She enjoyed quilting and other needlepoint work, she adored her granddaughters and was proud that she was able to achieve a lifelong goal of traveling to all 50 states and traveled to Europe.

She is survived by her son David (Brenda) Bauer of Greensburg, two granddaughters Lauren (Aaron) Huber and Krista Bauer of Greensburg, one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister Effie Richards.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 4PM-7PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Jane’s Funeral Service will begin at 10AM on Wednesday, April 29 also at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Wolford Officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children’s Foundation or to the First Christian Church.
