

Mary Jo Foist, 83, Greensburg, IN passed away peacefully on February 11, 2016 at Aspen Place Health Campus, where she was the First Lady. She was surrounded with love, by her family, at the time of her passing.
Mary Jo was born on May 11, 1932 to George Emmett and Cora Marie (Cox) Benefiel in Columbus, IN. She married Kermit Ray Foist on January 6, 1951. Mary Jo was a dental hygienist for Dr. Turner, in Columbus, for many years. She and her husband then owned and operated Burley’s Liquor Store, in Greensburg, for 27 years. After retirement, she and her husband spent their time enjoying their family and spending their winters in Florida. During her time of residence at Aspen Place, she touched many lives and brought humor to everyone she met. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Burnsville, but attended in Greensburg.
Mary Jo is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) McShay of Carmel, IN; one son, Bruce (Melissa) Foist of St. Paul, IN; four grandchildren, Dana, Mitch, Sam, and Kelsey; and one great-grandson, Nikolas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers: Robert W. Benefiel, Dallas E. Benefiel, and James M. Benefiel.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be held at the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN. Memorial contributions can be made to the Aspen Place Health Campus, Greensburg Bread of Life, and Our Hospice of Decatur County.
