Maurice L. “Garfield” Neville, 79 of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Maurice was born on February 21, 1939 at Camp Atterbury in Bartholomew County, the son of W. Frank and Myrle (Miller) Neville. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1958 and married Phyllis Kitchin on June 28 of the same year.
Maurice began working at Cummins in 1962 and worked at various plants before retiring in 2002 after 40 years of service as an Engine Tester. After retirement he then worked at Walmart as a door greeter for 15 years. He was member of the First Christian Church, the Eagles Lodge, the Senior Center and a past president and member of the Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Euchre at the senior center.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Phyllis Neville; his four daughters – Cheryl (George) Harford, Cyndy Vanderbur, Gretchen (Steve) Kinker and Heidi (Mack) Garland all of Greensburg; his two sisters – Lois Wainscott and Marjorie Robbins; eight grandchildren – Benjamin Coy, Uriah Coy, Kaylynn Vanderbur-Comer, Scott Vanderbur, Owen Kinker, Kurt Jones, Jarrod Jones and Katie Jones; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his six brothers – Dwight, Earl, Bernard, Bill, Russell and Donald Neville; and two grandchildren – Steven and Erin Kinker.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 1PM - 5PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30AM on Monday, July 23, 2018 also at the funeral home with Rev. Jerran Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
