M. Maxene Taylor, 89 of Greensburg passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Arbor Grove Nursing Home. Maxene was born on January 5, 1924 in Petersburg, Indiana, the daughter of Millard and Myfamwy Hayes.
Maxene enjoyed painting and sewing. She also loved animals, especially stray animals. Over the last several years she frequented the senior center daily and formerly played piano & organ at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one Daughter – Judy Long of Highland Park, NJ; two Sons – Brian (Bonnie) Long of Indianapolis, IN and Douglas (Jean) Long of Greensburg, IN; one Brother – James (Connie) Hayes of Greencastle, IN; Eight Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren. Maxene was preceded in death by her parents; two Sisters – Georgann Sears and Bea Gross; and one Brother – Phillip Hayes.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 5PM – 8PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Maxene’s Funeral Service will be on Thursday, November 14 at 10AM also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Decatur County Animal Shelter, the Humane Society of America, or to Premier Hospice.
