Norman Maurice Reed

Norman Maurice Reed, 80, of Greensburg, passed away on July 20, 2011. He was born on October 30, 1930 in Perry County, Indiana the son of Maurice and Flora (Howe) Reed. He graduated from Cannelton High School in 1948. Norman served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Jean Ann Ponsler on February 13, 1966 and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2010. He was an electrician and worked for Gillman Brothers, Brewsaugh Construction, and Paul Koors. He also worked for Houck Industries, Mang Vaults, and Lees Inn. He retired in 1995. From 1996-2006 he managed Heritage Acres Restaurant specializing in general maintenance and ice cream. Norman was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church (served as Honorary Deacon), Masonic Lodge of Batesville, and Rural Couples.

Survivors include: Son- Kenneth (Shannon) Reed of Georgia, Daughter- Lora (Tim) Williams of Greensburg, Grandchildren- Jonathan and Emily Reed, Jessica and Tyler Williams, Sisters- Betty Grose of Grandview, IN, and Carolyn (Eugene) Wittman of Newburgh, IN, one Niece, and several Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and Brother- Robert F. Reed.

All services will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Saturday July 23, 2011. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Rand Hooton and Rev. Pete Levi will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please send a memorial contribution to the Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp or to the YMCA.
