Patricia Ann Wiley Scripture

Patricia Ann Scripture, 73, of Batesville, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at her home. Patricia was born on June 27, 1941 in Bedford, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar and Annabelle (Ashby) Wiley. In 1959 she graduated from Sandcreek High School in Decatur County. On April 14, 1963, Patricia married James D. Scripture at the Mt. Aerie Baptist Church in Letts and he survives.

Other Survivors include their daughter Mindy (Carl) Hauser of Milan; their son Lee (Danielle) Scripture of Greensburg; five sisters Della Logan, Rosemary (John) Ryckman, Rebecca Clapp, Marj (John) Walton, and Debbie (Brad) McCarter; five brothers Tom (Connie), Jay (Brenda), Mark, Joe, and Wayne (Danielle) Wiley; and five grandchildren AJ and Natalie Williams and Anika, Saylor, and Davis Scripture.

Patricia’s first job was at Harrod-Carr Law Offices; she then went to work for Muncie Bread in Greensburg and was also a Mary Kay Consultant. For many years she worked as a receptionist and Bookkeeper at Batesville Chrysler, but most recently was co-owner of the Brass Lantern Clothing Store in Batesville. She was a member of the Delaware United Methodist Church and a member of the Young Moderns Home Ec Club.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, from 3PM – 7PM at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Patricia’s Funeral Service will begin at 10AM on Thursday, March 5 also at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
