

Robert J. Maple Sr., 85, of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Bob was born on June 28, 1929 in Batesville, the son of Walter and Hazel (Smith) Maple. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he married Wilma Culberton in Rushville on July 4, 1953.
Bob worked for 23 years at Delta Faucet and Fernald national Lead of Ross, Ohio. He was a member of the Bateville Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #688, Masonic Lodge #36, York Rite, VFW, and American Legion.
Survivors include his three children- Pamela (Harry) Schutte of Batesville, Robert (Virginia) Maple Jr. of Batesville and Paul (Welhelmina) Maple of Melbourne, Australia, 5 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma, his sister Mildred Wells, and four brothers Melvin, Roger, Eugene, and Walter Maple.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Bob’s funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Batesville United Methodist Church, 106 S. Park Avenue, Batesville, Indiana. Burial will follow at the Batesville United Methodist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
