Robert “Bret” Smith, 63, of Greensburg, passed away on December 7, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on October 8, 1962, in New Castle, Indiana, the son of James Smith and Nancy Hardgrove Snodgress.
Bret was a 1981 graduate of Greensburg Community High School, where he played both football and baseball and formed many lifelong friendships. He spent his early years working at the Greensburg golf course before beginning a 28–year career with Print Pak, where he remained until the company’s closure. He later continued doing what he enjoyed most—working outdoors—at Indian Lakes Campground and Golf Course.
A devoted sports fan, Bret rarely missed a chance to cheer on Purdue, the Cincinnati Reds, or the Cincinnati Bengals. He loved being outside, especially if it meant a day on the golf course. Known for his steady work ethic, easy laugh, and kind spirit, Bret found joy in simple moments and in the company of his friends and family.
Bret is survived by his mother, Nancy Snodgress; his children, Jay Smith, Megan Smith, Alex Smith, and Jessilynn Smith; his granddaughter, CeCe Chapman; and his siblings, Aaron (Mikki) Smith, Beth (Mike) Bruno, and Kelli (Scott) Ferguson; step-brother, Doug (Nitza) Snodgress; step-mother, Judy Smith; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Smith, step-father, Phil Snodgress and step-sister, Debbie Justice.
Bret will be remembered for his warmth, his love of the outdoors, and the unwavering devotion he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
