Neil Augustine

Neil E. Augustine, 95 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at 11:27 AM at Village Green Health Campus, Greenville, Ohio. Neil was born on August 29, 1930, in Girard, Ohio, the son of the late Edward S. and Justina (Yancar) Augustine. Neil was a proud member of the United States Army 3rd Armor Calvary; he went to Akron Barber College and then became a barber owning and operating Neils Barber Shop for 50 years retiring in 1980.

Neil was a former member of the Knights of Columbus; he was a member of the American Legion; he attended Grace Church; he enjoyed playing golf with his friends at White Springs; he loved all sports and enjoyed going to watch the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Pacers, and the Indianapolis Colts; he enjoyed fixing things and would do anything for anybody; he loved traveling and especially loved the mountains and the ocean; and most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

Neil is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy (Boli) Augustine on September 1, 2014, whom he married June 20, 1953, his son, James Augustine; his daughter in-law, Debbie Augustine; and his sister, Audrey Mrofchak.

Neil is survived by his children and spouse, Stephanie and Frank Szymanski, and Eric Augustine; his grandchildren, Barrett Gruber and partner Leslie, Derek Gruber, James and Heather Augustine, Michael and Esther Augustine, and Matthew and Kim Augustine; his great grandchildren, Elliott, and Emerson Augustine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. Greenville, Ohio with Chaplain Tish Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday March 20, 2026, at the funeral home. Veterans’ honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran's Honor Guard on Saturday at the graveside. Memorial contributions may be made to t. Greenville American Legion.
