He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1968-72. Allan worked at General Electric in Greenville, SC for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2002.
Allan was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed all things mechanical especially his Honda Goldwing motorcycles, classic cars and steam locomotives. Allan generously shared his skills and willingly helped his family, neighbors, and friends with home repairs and improvements.
Allan is survived by sisters Dottie Cooper, Pat Hawkins (Chuck), and Susan Overstreet (Bill) and brothers Richard Memmott (Elaine) and Ed Memmott (Julie). In addition to his parents, Minnie and Ted Memmott, Allan was preceded in death by his sister Charlotte Memmott.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Services for Allan will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM in the chapel.
