Alma Lillian Hembree, wife of Calvin L. Hembree, passed away Sunday February 10th, 2019. She was born on December 29th, 1927 in Manchester England. She spent her childhood in Rhyl, North Wales, where she developed a great fondness of the ocean. Alma later found the love of her life during WWll and she and Calvin married in 1945. Now a war bride, she took the M.S. John Ericsson over to the States where they began life together.
Alma was dedicated to her family, loved beautiful things, and had an impeccable decorating style that lead her to a career as a bridal consultant for Belk where she worked for more than 30 years. She had a giving spirit with no lack of determination in life. She lived a loving and rich life of which her family was truly blessed, as were her pets.
In addition to her husband of 73 years, she is survived by two daughters, Alissa Loader (husband Derek), Christina Brooks (husband Danny); four grandchildren, Tonya Cochran, Melanie Cochran Huff, Chandler Brooks (wife Jackie), Landon Brooks (fiancé Sydney); and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Huff and Morgan Huff. Alma was predeceased by her parents, John William Clarke and Hilda Buckley Clarke, and her brother, Ronald Clarke.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 from 2 - 6 pm, to be held at the residence of Derek and Alissa Loader, 301 Eastcrest Drive, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
