He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 24th, 1983, to Kathleen and Michael Brenan. Andrew graduated from Ashland High School in Ashland, Ohio, and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of South Carolina. After college, he lived in New York City for about ten years before returning to South Carolina to be near family.
Andrew found great joy in his family. He had a generous heart for everyone. He was the most amazing uncle, such a natural with his nieces. He loved them fiercely and left such a large impression with them that, even though they are just toddlers, they will carry him with them forever.
We never met anyone who loved cooking more than he did. He loved the flavors and the smells and could create anything. He was always most happy in the kitchen and loved to cook for others. His favorite food was pizza, something he could cook as well as any New York City restaurant.
He had an unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Andrew’s favorite Bible passage was Luke 12:48.
“Whereas he who did not know it, but did things deserving of stripes, will be beaten with few. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and of him to whom they have entrusted much, they will demand the more.”
Andrew always took those words to heart and exemplified them in his daily living. He used his talents, such as culinary skills and writing abilities, and his spiritual gifts, to glorify God. He did this by loving all people, friends and those to become friends. He never met a stranger, always going out of his way to help others. He had a passion for helping people, especially the less fortunate and downtrodden in many ways known and unknown.
Andrew grew up loving baseball. His family knew that to score you had to be “safe at home.” Andrew is now “safe at home” and looks forward to the day he will be reunited with his family and friends. We will all carry him with us forever.
Andrew is survived by his parents Kathleen Brenan and Michael (Julie) Brenan, his sisters Erin (Rich) McCaskill and Molly (Paul) Starr, his brother Rob (Sheila) Brenan, and his cherished nieces Alexandra (Alex) and Brenan McCaskill.
Andrew’s wonderful spirit, joy, and talents will be celebrated on January 28th, 2023 with a visitation starting at 10:30 am and memorial service starting at 11:00 am at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
