Greer, South Carolina – Anthony “Tony” Joseph DeCredico, a long-time resident of Greer, was called home peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family.
He is survived by the love of his life, his relentless caretaker and best friend, his wife Mary Ann along with their four children and their spouses, as well as eight grandchildren:
- Anthony DeCredico, his wife Laurie and their children Michael and Carolyn.
- Mary Beth Langley, her husband David and their children Christopher, Matthew and Sydney.
- David, his wife Julia and their children Davis, Claudia and Joseph.
- Alan, and his partner Travis.
Tony was born on June 14, 1939 in Port Chester, New York to Alphonse and Angelina DeCredico. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernice. Tony is a graduate of Port Chester High School and Pace University. Tony and his family relocated to Greer, SC in 1981. He spent the majority of his career as an Accounting and Finance Executive with Bowater, Inc. After retirement, Tony continued to stay active by working with his son-in-law, David as the Chief Financial Officer of Langley & Associates, Architects.
Tony adored his family and spending time with them. He was extremely proud of his children and his grandchildren. No conversation could be had without a full report on how each was doing with their activities and their schoolwork. He was an accomplished woodworker, enjoyed making bread, and traveling with Mary Ann and their friends. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he served in various capacities, including Usher and a member of the Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas Adoration Ministry for the past 15 years. He had recently joined the Christ Church Weekly Men’s Bible Study.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1209 Brushy Creek Road, Taylors, SC 29657 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The visitation will be followed by a Funeral Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A private interment ceremony will follow the service at the Sacred Heart Columbarium at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 338 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
