His wife, Candace, had the privilege of holding his hand for his last breath on earth, and with his next breath, he held Jesus’ hand and was ushered into heaven.
Ant was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on December 3, 2024, and his first words upon hearing this heartbreaking diagnosis were, “I’m finally going to meet Him.”
Ant wanted to be here for his wife and children, and fought valiantly to do so, but after several surgeries and set-backs, Jesus brought him home. Many prayers were said by people all over the world, and many nights were spent on our knees praying for healing. He is now healed.
Ant was the son of Jesse Philpot and Emma Mae Cofer Philpot. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candace Philpot, and three children of whom he was so proud, Kamaaz “Mo” Philpot (27), Micah Philpot (16) and Ava Philpot (12). In addition, he is survived by his sister, Marie Valentine, his brother, Cedric Philpot, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and cousins. Ant is also survived by his beloved father-in-law, Lee Lohre, whom he called, “Dad,” and mother-in-law, Ginny Lohre, “Mom.”
Lee led him to the Lord in June of 2020 and met with him faithfully every week to study the Bible. Lee baptized Ant, and they developed a deep friendship which Ant held in the highest regard.
Ant worked at Texas Roadhouse for the last 19 years and loved his job as a meat cutter. He worked hard to provide for his family and worked even harder to teach his children who God is. Ant was the best husband and friend his wife Candace could ever have, and he was loved beyond words. He made a lasting impact on the lives of everyone who knew him. His kindness and sense of humor were unmatched. His time on earth was short, but meaningful. Ant was genuine.
Ant loved the Lord, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him or working with him knew that he was ready to meet his Savior, and wanted everyone else to be ready, as well.
Ant’s passing is a loss that seems too much to bear at times, but for anyone who knows the Lord, the reunion will be great one day!
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
A funeral service for Ant will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial, 1 Pine Knoll Dr., Greenville, SC 29609.
