

Bobby Roy Jones of Greenville, SC, passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 92. He fought a hard battle of underlying health issues with courage and grace, never complaining. He was a master class in mental strength.
Born December 7, 1933, he was the son of the late Roy F. Jones and Novella Norris Jones. He was a graduate of Greenville High School where he was a Greenville Raider basketball player and earned his Bachelors’ Degree in Textile Engineering from Clemson University.
Bobby was a hard worker and dedicated to taking care of his family. He began his early career in textile engineering with stints in Greenville and Atlanta, GA, but found his calling at Allstate Insurance where he worked until his retirement.
He served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany.
While working at Allstate, he showed his entrepreneurial spirit by owning the Dunkin Donuts franchise on Wade Hampton Blvd where you could sometimes find his three daughters working behind the counter decorating and serving donuts and coffee.
He is survived by his loving and beloved wife of 69 years, June Hall Jones, and his daughters Bebe Meredith (Bill), Janine Wertheim (Bob) and Mitzi Manos (Michael). He also leaves behind his grandsons Michael Meredith (Lexie), Brad Meredith (Sammi), Andrew Wertheim (Megan), Tyler Wertheim and Jordan Wertheim. He was blessed with his great grandchildren: Archer, Soren, West, Selwyn, Josephine, Eve and another great grandson on the way, He is also survived by his sister, Sybil Osborne.
He was a long- time member of White Oak Baptist Church. As a faithful Christian, he enjoyed enriching his mind by reading and taking courses at Furman University on religion and other subjects.
At Bobby’s request, no formal services will be held. A private, family-only graveside service and later a celebration of his life with family will be selected by his children.
