

Born in Greenville, Brenda began her healthcare career as an OR Technician at Greenville General Hospital. She worked for Dr. Charles Zaglin and retired from Piedmont Oral Surgery Associates.
She was a devoted member of Edwards Road Baptist Church where she eagerly served in many areas. Her love for Jesus Christ was prevalent to all who knew her. Her compassion for serving in her church was where she was most content after her retirement.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Childers, Jr., her parents, Benjamin “Ben” and Geneva Porter Singleton; and Kathryn “Kat” Martin; her brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Singleton; and her sister, Virginia Benson.
Surviving are her daughter, Glynis Childers Malaska and her husband Christopher; her son, Charles W. “Tripp” Childers, III and his wife Nancy; her sister, Deidra “Deedee” Paris; three grandchildren, Janet Malaska; Allyson Malaska; Will Wingate; and special niece, Brandi Jackson Banta.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 at 12:00pm at Edwards Road Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at The Mackey Mortuary.
