Born in Augusta, Georgia., he worked as a mechanical engineer in the southeast for 40 years for Scientific Atlanta, J.E. Sirrine, and Fluor. After retirement, he began his career as a tax professional with H&R Block, where he continued to work until his death.
Bubba was a loving father and grandfather that will be greatly missed. He attended Clemson University and was an avid Tiger football fan who tailgated for every home game and welcomed the opportunity to show other fans pictures of his customized truck. He always had a joke ready, many times laughing so hard trying to tell it that he couldn’t get to the punchline. He was proud to have achieved the rank of a BBQ Master Judge, and his family and friends enjoyed many meals of his delicious pulled pork and homemade sauce. He loved to play golf, until his game started to slip a few years ago, deciding if he couldn’t play well, he wouldn’t play at all. As a young man, Bruce joined the Jaycees, a civic organization promoting leadership and community service, where he held several local and state officer positions. He was an active member at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Easley, and loved participating with the Men’s Group in their fundraising events for local charities.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Lee Kesler; his parents, George and Mary Kesler of Anderson; and his brother, George (Roxy) Kesler of St. Louis. Surviving are his daughters Sharon (David) Chalmers, and Suzanne (Timothy) Riddle; as well as his three stepchildren, Henry Todd (Cara) Davis, Michelle (Daren) Jennings, and Robin (Scott) Blackburn; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 21 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive in Greenville. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Powdersville Road in Easley. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens following a lunch reception at the church. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange and Clemson attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Men’s Group of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 1200 Powdersville Rd, Easley, SC 29642
