Mrs. Carole Baty Owens, 84, completed her life journey at 8:35 PM on Sunday March 23rd, 2025 following a short but devastating battle with the scourge of cancer. She ascended peacefully into the hands of God and her savior Jesus Christ surrounded by a loving family. A tremendous lady filled with charm and grace, she befriended all with whom she came in contact. She loved her church and her Sunday school class though she has not been able to attend in recent years.
Carole was a 1963 graduate of Winthrop University with a BA in Art. She taught school for a few years before becoming a full time housewife with all of the crucial duties that it entails. She enjoyed sitting in her sunroom in her favorite chair watching the many birds, flowers, and trees in the mornings and reading her Bible taking many notes. She always followed her children and granddaughter’s travels so that she could pray for them. On Sunday morning, since she was unable to attend church, her favorite thing to do was to listen to the Tabernacle Choir and the ministry of Charles Stanley. She loved traveling in our motor home having taken many extended trips to the great western mountain states, Canada, New England, and especially the beautiful mountains of Virginia.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Dan, daughter Anthea and her husband David Cote, son Robin and wife Cynthia and one granddaughter, Victoria Cote, who was the apple of her eye. All of her children were so special to her as she was to them.
On the Owens side, she leaves behind her sister-in-law Judy Tomlin, nephew Joey (Harry) Tomin, his wife Ute, nephew Lance Tomlin, his wife Debra, niece Carey Morley, her husband Steve, and nephew Forrest Austell.
On the Baty side she leaves behind her sister Terry Culbertson, husband Joe, niece Octavia Young, niece Gina Culbertson, nephew Martin Culbertson, her brother Billy Baty, nephew Kit Baty and niece Wendy Heath Baty.
She had to leave us but she will live in our hearts forever.
