Celeste Arrington Clyborne

Celeste Arrington Clyborne, age 92, widow of Harry H. Clyborne, Sr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her home.

Born in Wadesboro, NC she was a daughter of the late Bradford Merry and Vivian Padgett Arrington.

She was a graduate of Greenville High School and Draughon’s Business College.

Celeste relished being a wife and mother and will be remembered as an encourager. Later she returned to work and retired as a bookkeeper with Huntington and Guerry. She was always active in the ministries of her church, for many years at Central Baptist Church and more recently at Earle Street Baptist Church. She faithfully taught Sunday School for over 50 years, was active in the WMU and later in the XYZ group. She continued her outreach through visiting the homebound, writing notes and phoning those in need.

She is survived by her loving family, sons and daughters-in- law, H. Howell and Joan Clyborne, David A. and Lynn Lee Clyborne, and Stephen F. and Sylvia Clyborne; brother, Padgett Arrington; grandchildren, Ann Marie Clyborne, Kelly Clyborne, Blake Clyborne (Lesli), Rachel Clyborne, Rebekah Clyborne, Ashley Watson, Patrick Swift (Jennifer), and Micah Swift (Suzanne), and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by her brother, Bradford Arrington and her sister, Martha Wickliffe.

Services will be held Thursday, December 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Earle Street Baptist Church with her son, Reverend Dr. Stephen F. Clyborne officiating, assisted by the Reverends Chuck Emory and Micah Swift.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.
