She was born in East Chicago, Indiana on February 8, 1965.
Christina’s life was defined by sharing her love of Jesus in her own wonderful way. She was baptized at Ross Reformed Church in Gary, Indiana as a child and was a current member of New Harvest Community Church in Laurens, South Carolina.
She loved to be active and would insist on participating in all activities where music, the gospel, and bingo were going on.
She didn’t let Cerebral Palsy or severe scoliosis define her life. She loved to have a good time! Yes, she loved Jesus, but having VIP tickets to see the Chippendale dancers and enjoying twice a week Strawberry Daiquiris were a must, as well as her monthly “Men’s Calendar” gifted yearly by her niece, Jennifer Hughes.
Because of her own disabilities, she had a low tolerance for people who didn’t appreciate their healthy bodies or live life to the fullest. Her favorite saying was, “Get it together!”
During Covid she learned that liberty and justice were not for all. She was locked up in a building away from family and friends for 13 months. She did get Covid and was in the hospital for 5 days…without any family or friends…which was a first. Being the true fighter she was, she was discharged without even a cough.
Her legacy will not be forgotten by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vera Swets; father, Ben Hoffman; grandparents, Sam Koedyker, Eva and Tom Bartley, and Ben and Martha Hoffman; step-father, Ken Swets; and her great- niece, Jocie Hughes.
Chrissy is survived by her sisters, Penny (Mike) Easley and Kathy (Charles) Snider; nieces Jennifer Hughes, Marion Easley, Kenessa Grant, and Olivia and Wini Hughes; nephews Darian Grant, and Ty and Jack Hughes; and numerous cousins.
In addition, she is survived by her chosen family – Johnnie, Amy, Ella and Johnathan Sanders who loved Chrissy as family and participated as such. Chrissy loved just about everyone, but when Johnnie Sanders walked into the room…. he had ALL her attention!
A special thanks to her favorite healthcare specialist, Kealah Cheshire, who went above and beyond for our girl and her favorite aide, Cathy Brown.
A Celebration of Life will be held in August. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Harvest Community Church, 370 Rocky Springs Church Road in Laurens, SC 29360.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mackeywoodlawn.com for the Hoffman family.
