

Dallas was a graduate of North Greenville College and Furman University. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam War, including sixteen months stationed in Morocco.
Following his military service, Dallas dedicated his career to public service as a criminal investigator for the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Family Court Juvenile Division.
Dallas was an avid gardener who took great pride in his lawn and loved anything outdoors. Known for his resourcefulness and generous spirit, he could build or fix anything needed by family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 55 years, Cindy Bash Schaaf; his son, Brad Schaaf (Susan); and his daughter, Shannon Jackson. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Kristen Schaaf, Ravanna Jackson (Cameron Kurtz), Ryan Schaaf, Ridgway Jackson, and Kate Schaaf. Dallas is also survived by his sister, Jennifer Campbell (Gary); his brother, Danny Schaaf (Julie); his brother-in-law, Tim Bash (Joan); his sisters-in-law, Jennifer Swails (Hansel) and Rebecca Weihrauch (Larry); along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Dallas at the Prisma Health Cancer Institute.
Services for Dallas will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 35 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615, visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
