Delores was born on March 13, 1936, at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Illinois. She was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life reflected the grace, strength, and faith as described in Proverbs 31. Truly, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”
On August 7, 1955, she married the love of her life, Duane Estus Hadley, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing. Together, they moved from Danville, Illinois, to Greenville, South Carolina, in search of a better life for their family.
Delores found joy in the simple and meaningful things of life. She treasured having morning devotions with her husband before his passing, working in the yard, tending her flower garden, baking for those she loved, and playing games on her iPad. She had a gentle spirit, a servant’s heart, and a deep love for her family.
She worked for over 15 years as an administrative assistant at Bob Jones University, first in the Purchasing Department and later in the School of Aviation. She loved watching the trainer planes arrive and depart and especially enjoyed interacting with the flight students.
Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane Estus Hadley; her son, Michael Kevin Hadley; her brothers, Byron Lee Seaton and William Wayne Seaton; and her great-grandson, Micah Owen Anderson.
She is survived by her brother Dennis Ross Seaton, her daughters, Pennie Hadley Starnes (Rick) of Matthews, North Carolina, Karla Hadley Nichols (Mark) of Taylors, South Carolina, and Susan Hadley Keen (Patrick) of Moorefield, West Virginia; her eight grandchildren, Amy Beth Anderson, Kevin Joel Hadley, Jonathan Hadley Starnes, Kelley Renee Denny, Katelyn Marie Williams, Matthew Lawson Nichols, William Michael Keen, and Andrew Patrick Keen; and nine great-grandchildren.
Delores will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, her kindness, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a godly example that will continue to bless all who knew her.
A private family graveside service will be held.
