Donald L. Suttles

Donny was born to the late Jack L. Suttles and Carolyn Reid Suttles at Greenville General Hospital. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1972. After high school, he started his lifelong career as a truck driver, where he drove many years for Spartan Express and retired from AAA Cooper.

Donny was blessed with a large loving family. He is survived by his younger brother Jacky Suttles and sister Brittany Suttles. His children, Anthony (Dinky) Hembree (Samantha), Josh L. Suttles (Jessica), Kerri Batson (Dustin), Travis Suttles (Laura Jane) and Ethan Suttles. His 11 grandchildren, Patricia, Angela, Katherine, Rachel, Lillian, Jaylen, Troy, Aeryal, Landon, Lorick and Evie Leigh, a nephew Adam Suttles, niece Rebekah Suttles and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, Scott Randall Suttles.

In addition to loving the time he spent with family, he enjoyed being an avid collector of Hess Trucks, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and trains.

There was never a time that he didn’t have a smile on his face even after suffering a devastating paralysis in 2011. Donny loved life to the fullest no matter the circumstances. Regardless of the cards he was dealt, his resolve never wavered and would always find a way to adapt and overcome. He was always kind and glad to see family and friends, determined and content where God had asked him to be. His demeanor and outlook on life is one to be envied. His love, spirit, and contagious belly laugh will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation for Donny on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Funeral services for Donny will be Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 with an interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, if you feel so inclined, the family asks that a memorial donation be made in Donny's memory to Shriner’s Hospital of Greenville.
