Dorothy was born on February 14, 1915 to Wendla Josephine and Frank Allen Johnson in Farnhamville, Iowa. She lived in Iowa, Minnesota, and Florida.
She attended Bob Jones College in 1932-1934.
She married Marvin Hamilton Lewis on January 1, 1941 and they were married for 57 years, although when she was asked her response was always, “Not long enough!”
Throughout her life she worked as a bank teller, in ministry with her husband evangelist teaching VBS and children’s clubs, as a hostess/docent at BJU’s Museum and Art Gallery, town student visitation with her husband, and assistant to her husband as Director of Gospel Fellowship Association visiting missionaries over the world.
Survived by two daughters: Linda Francis (PA), Katherine Karr (SC); Five Grandchildren: Laurel Brown (Kyle), James Francis (Beth), Scott Karr (Heather), Stacy Holst (Matthew), Stephanie Heath (Scott); and 14 Great grandchildren: Caleb, Emily, Peter, Zeddie, Michael, Carrington, Garin, William, Maddox, Isaac, Evan, McKenna, Gethin, and Theo. She is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews.
She loved her Lord and prayed fervently for His return. She was a faithful and valiant prayer warrior throughout her life. She was greatly loved by her family, and many treasured friends. We will miss her, but know she is rejoicing in Glory.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home and on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 1:30 – 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home Prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to or Gospel Fellowship Association Memorial for Dorothy Lewis college scholarship for missionary children or Shepherd’s Care Assisted Living.
