Ernestine Parker Reid

Ernestine Parker Reid, 96, of Greenville, South Carolina passed away Saturday, May, 22, 2021. She was born on June 13, 1924 in Taylors, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late William Carl Parker and Lillian Bomar Parker. She was a loving wife to the late Toy Inman Reid.

Ernestine was a long-time member of Georges Creek Baptist Church in Easley, South Carolina. She loved to visit shut ins and was a devoted member of the bereavement committee. She enjoyed being around people and helping others whenever she could. She loved to work in her yard and to cook and bake as often as she could.

She is survived by two sons, Sonny Reid and Joe Reid (Lynn); grandchildren, Todd Reid (Tina), Toy Reid, III, Kayla Reid Hayes (Jeremy), Jonas Reid, Austin Reid (Jenny) and Tim Reid (Gloria). Step-grandchildren include Randy Van Dusen, Laurie Burch and Bill Van Dusen. Her great-grandchildren are Davis Reid and Judah Hayes. She also had a loving caregiver, Vallie Atkins, who was a wonderful friend and helper to Ernestine and her family.

She is also survived by her sister, Jennie Mae Hawkins and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers Harold Parker and Carl Parker, Jr. and a daughter in law Anita Reid predeceased her.

Ernestine was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to so many. She will always be remembered for her faith, kindness, sense of humor and strong independence. As in the words of her granddaughter Kayla, she had “spunk”. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 pm Friday May 28, 2021 in the Remembrance Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park, a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm.
