She was the daughter of the late Samuel O. Russell and Blanche Register Russell of Florence, SC. She is survived by her son, William “Chuck” C. Wright, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Ann; grandson, Chad and wife Merrie; granddaughter, Lindsey and husband Barron Davenport; and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Lucy Wright, Janey and Marley Davenport, all of Greenwood, SC.
Ethel was predeceased by a brother, Sam O. Russell and sisters, Lenora R. Curry and Marjorie R. Holliday.
After graduating from Furman in 1937, she taught school in the Parker District for 16 years. She was a member of the Fidelis Class and Flower Committee of the First Baptist Greenville, the Stone Lake Garden Club and Green Valley Country Club where she loved to play golf and bridge. She served Meals on Wheels for 35 years.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
