She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Newton, and two daughters, Charlene and Christy Ann.
Flora was known as Mom, Grandma, Gran Gran and Mimi by her beloved family. She is survived by son, Terry Wayne Newton, daughter, Sherry Lynn Crenshaw (Franklin), son, Charles Lee Newton (Melissa), daughter, Patricia Elaine Young (Curtis), twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Flora dearly loved her family, and adored her fur baby, Marquise Diamond. She delighted in a hot cup of coffee, fried chicken, and cherry turnovers, and enjoyed sitting on her front porch waving at people who went by. She never met a stranger and called everyone she encountered “Hun.” It did not matter if they had just met. In addition, she appreciated nature and enjoyed spending time in the mountains. Working crossword puzzles was also a favorite activity.
She will be missed by all who loved her, but they celebrate that she went to her forever home.
A celebration of Flora's life will be held on June 28th at the home.
Home again, home again jiggity jig.
