Frances Blake Satterthwaite

Frances Satterthwaite Greer, SC Frances Elizabeth Blake Satterthwaite, 94, wife of the late Walter Vanderveer Satterthwaite, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at St. Frances Hospital Eastside in Greenville, SC. Born in Bessemer, AL, to the late John Ray and Winnie Bradley Blake, Frances was a graduate of Birmingham Southern College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and George Peabody College, where she received her Master’s Degree in library science. She went on to have a long career as a high school librarian, working in Chattanooga, TN, Aliquippa, PA, Hollywood, FL, Hapeville, GA and College Park, GA. She was a long time member of College Park Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, Clerk of Session and taught Sunday school. She is survived by a son, Dr. John Satterthwaite and wife, Sharon of Greer, SC; two daughters, Barbara Mason and husband, Dr. Brian Mason of Herndon, VA and Nancy Reece and husband, Steve of Woodstock, GA; a sister, Emily Blake Vail of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Jennifer Satterthwaite and husband, David Kelly, Joel Satterthwaite, Ashley Mason Strausser and husband, Michael, Christopher Reece and Madison Reece; two great-grandchildren, Catherine Hart Revels and Joseph Cooper Revels; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2015 at College Park Presbyterian Church, College Park, GA, with the Reverends Jonier Orozco and Martin Huggins officiating. There will be a private burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Park Presbyterian Church, 1540 Mercer Avenue, College Park, GA 30337 or to the charity of one’s choice.
