

Frank Grant Griffin, III joined his late wife, Bobbie Hendricks Griffin, in God's heavenly kingdom on June 15, 2016. Born on October 31, 1932 in Danville, KY, Frank was the son of the late Frank Griffin, Jr. and Charlotte Hainesworth Griffin. He graduated from Danville High School in 1951 and attended Clemson University for 2 years. Frank proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He served in the 5th Air Force Fareast, the 58th Fighter-Bomber Wing headquartered in Taegu, Korea with a rear echelon base at Itazube AFB in Japan. As an Airborne Electronics Technician (Radar), he performed his skills on the F-84 Thunderjets. After his overseas tour, he was stationed at Donaldson AFB in Greenville, SC where he met Bobbie, the love of his life. They were married April 21, 1956. Frank had a very long and successful career in sales. He was employed by Builder Marts of America for 31 1/2 years. Frank's joys were his precious daughters, sons-in-law, and four grandchildren, who are musically talented. He loved hearing them perform at recitals, concerts, and church settings. He enjoyed his Christian friends at Taylors First Baptist Church where he attended for 42 years. At Taylors he served as a deacon and was currently a volunteer at the TFBC Family Life Center and the Intercessory Prayer Room. Frank was a model train enthusiast and an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. He is survived by two daughters, Angela (Richard) Armstrong of Lancaster, SC and Tina (Kevin) Brady of Alexandria, VA. His four grandchildren are Lindsey Armstrong of Anderson, SC, Rich Armstrong of Lancaster, SC, Will Armstrong of Kernersville, NC and Jonathan Armstrong of Lancaster, SC. His seven sisters are Nancy Griffin, Mary Lester (Jim), Lillian Maillet, Barbara Spoon more (Fox), Jacqueline Pollard (Jim), and Goldie Sanders (Richard) all of Danville, KY and Roberta Hiller (Robert) of Lexington, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Thomas, Jimmy, and Robert Griffin and sisters Rose Wright and Betty Cahill.

A service to celebrate his life will take place at 3:30 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Taylors First Baptist Worship Center with Dr. Jimmie Harley officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2 PM in the Welcome Center at the church. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, and visits. The family is being served by Woodlawn Funeral Home.
