

Born in Plant City, FL, he was a son of the late Albert L. and Garnetta Gill Hunter.
Gabe received his BS from Furman University in 1968 and his MBA in a partnership with Clemson/Furman in 1974. He was a product manager with Union Carbide (Kemet) before joining General Electric (AlSiMag) where he was the Vice President of human Resources. Presently he was a Professional Recruiter.
Gabe served the City of Mauldin as a Member of the Planning Commission from 1999 to 2006, Chairman of Planning and Economic Development Committee from 2006 to present, the Mauldin City Council 2006 to present and Mayor Pro Tem 2008 to present. He presently served on the Board of Directors at the Upcountry History Museum and was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly Bindseil Hunter, of the home; his daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Shane Frederick of Powdersville and Elizabeth and Jeffrey Gardner of Raleigh, NC; sister, Daisy H. Grant, brother, James O. Hunter, both of Plant City, FL; and grandsons, Hunter and Connor Frederick.
Mr. Hunter is at The Mackey Mortuary where services will be 11:00am Saturday morning with the Reverend Steven L. Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
