

Hugh served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a gunner on a B-24. His plane was shot down and he became a German POW. After service he attended North Carolina State University on the GI Bill, graduating in 1950. He joined Steel Heddle Mfg. Co in 1952 and retired in 1991 as President and CEO.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
Hugh was preceded in death by his first wife Louise Bailey Cash and his brother Graham Cash.
He is survived by his second wife Mary “Tommie” Budd Cash; a stepson, Steven J. Budd and his wife Beth, of Dayton, OH; step grandchildren, Justin Budd, Sarah Budd, Samantha Budd and Kelley James; and nieces, Peggy McGhee, Jo Ann “Rooney” Rainey, Jackie Bernard, and Sondra Edwards.
Hugh also leaves behind Brant Conner, a dear friend who faithfully called every couple of days just to say hello.
His sister, Adell Cash Wynne survived him by two days and joined her heavenly family January 26, 2015.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00pm at The Mackey Mortuary, with Reverend Tim Leslie officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
