Born in Durham, North Carolina on September 6, 1947, he was the son of the late Dr. Iverson and Agnes Brownell. After graduating high school he served his country in the United States Army for two years before attending Clemson University and earning his degree in 1971. Bo dedicated 45 years to the real estate industry in Greenville, South Carolina before his retirement.
Known for his love of boating or "river backing," woodworking, driving back roads and reading, Bo found joy in both adventure and quiet moments of reflection. Some of Bo's happiest times were spent at Litchfield Beach, surrounded by his kids and grandchildren, telling stories. He had a famously prickly sense of humor - sharp, dry, and always memorable - that kept everyone on their toes and often left a room full of laughter.
Whether crafting something special in his workshop, navigating the open water, or getting lost in a good book, Bo embraced life with curiosity and warmth.
Above all, Bo's greatest love was his family, and the time spent together was his most valued treasure. His kindness, wit, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May Bo's memory continue to inspire us to cherish the simple joys of life, embrace laughter, and hold our loved ones close
Bo is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dusty, his sons Smith (Mackenzie), Reed (Melisa), and Iverson, his sisters Lynn Parrott of Hilton Head, SC, Lisa McIntosh of Lenoir, NC, and Laurie McIntosh of Camden, SC, as well as his grandchildren, Sam, Annie, and Katherine.
A memorial service for Bo will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N Church Street, Greenville, SC 29601. In lieu of flowers, Donations in Bo's honor may be made to SC State Parks https://www.scprt.com/parks/donate-to-state-parks.
