

Jacob Robert Oaks passed away on December 12, 2016 at the age of 19 while assisting a disabled motorist. He was born in Greenville, SC. He is the son of Robert Lynn and Rebecca Love Oaks. He is survived by his two older sisters, Kaitlyn Marie Oaks and Meredith Katherine Oaks, paternal grandparents Carl L. Oaks Jr. and wife Vonnie Taylor Oaks, Teresa Oaks Brandt and husband Ted M. Brandt, maternal grandparents Flo Gardner Love. He is proceeded in death by his granddaddy Max H. Love.
Growing up, Jacob played baseball for Northwood Little League and was a member of the Sugar Creek Swim Team. He was a loyal team member of the Titans and Upstate Maverick’s baseball teams. He was a 2016 graduate of Southside Christian School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, baseball and football teams. He was a freshman at the College of Charleston where he was just beginning his dream of being a college baseball pitcher. He planned to transfer to Clemson in the spring. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. His final moments were a testament of who he was and how he lived his life, always “taking one for the team” and putting others first. He was such a blessing to his family, friends and all those who knew him.
Memorial will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:15 PM at Brushy Creek Baptist Church (4999 Old Spartanburg Rd, Taylors SC 29687). Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:30 PM at the same location.
His final resting place will be at Graceland East Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Christian School in Jacob’s honor, 2211 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville SC 29681.
