I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a small child and Bro. Bellis was our pastor. He gave me my first Bible for perfect attendance. I was about 7 years old.  As a matter of fact I just looked at pictures while packing to move and came across the picture my mom took of bro. Bellis and me at the old house.)The Rosier house) This was in Sylvania Ga. Jackson Baptist Church. 

Dear Bellis Family,
I sorrow over your loss but rejoice in Dr. Bellis' gain!  I am most grateful for the God-given opportunity to sit under his ministry at BJU.  His practical instruction and genuine testimony for Christ are remembered with great fondness.  May the Lord comfort your hearts.

I am in my 36th year of full-time Evangelism and I still use the instruction that I received under Dr. Bellis! I was (and still am) blessed to have had him as a professor!

Dear Bellis Family,
When we learned from Roseanne and Dave of the home going of Dr. Bellis Dawn and I immediately began to recall New Testament Survey and other Bible and Christian Education courses where Dr. Bellis gave us appreciation of the Word of God and its practical application. I have never forgotten his practical instruction as he read chapters to us from "Some Preachers Do" by Bertie Cole Bays. We recalled Dawn baby sitting Jimmy and fellowship that we have had over the years when we could be on campus. In recent years there seemed to be something missing Bible Conference week when we could no longer run by your back campus home for a visit. We appreciate Dr. Bellis giving us time for a family life conference here at our church. It was a real privilege to speak to his seminary class as a guest pastor/teacher. It was also a privilege to support Jimmy when he was a missionary in Canada. We rejoice that we can look forward to a reunion in heaven. It is our prayer that the Holy Spirit will give you peace throughout the future.

Your daughters and I shared mailboxes when the P.O. was that miniscule corner of the Student Center.  I was thrilled to be assigned to Dr. Bellis for class. He was a gifted teacher. In my later years, I continued to use his teaching and more fully appreciated his ministry to students.  Praying for all of you as you will miss him. Praising God that we know that this is NOT "goodbye,"  but "see you later."

Jim was such a kind, steady, and consistent man. You will be in my prayers as you adjust to his being absent from you and present with the Lord.

What a wonderful servant of God. As one of Dr Bellis' students, I was always reminded that the degrees behind our name should never stop us from serving in the small places...the front lines of ministry. He loved those he shepherded and loved his students as well. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and loved ones. What joy to know he is in the presence of His Lord today!

Dr. Bellis taught me Harmony of the Gospels and to think that he was so young in my day.  I am 81 and he taught it so well.  It always special that there names was James and Arlene, the same as ours.  He was such a blessing

Dr. Bellis' classes provided much knowledge along with a challenge to follow the directions received.  As students, we knew he believed and lived what the Bible taught.  My prayers are with his family.

I absolutely loved his sense of humor.  It wasn't humor for humor's sake, it was always used to make an important point.  It has been many years since I sat in his classes but I still quote him.

Dr. Bellis was a humble, faithful servant of Christ who touched many lives (mine included); he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Condolences to the Bellis family in the passing of Dr. Bellis. I remember him as a great Godly man and a wonderful customer of Attaway Easterlin Pontiac where I was employed. All those that came in contact with him were truly blessed. God is good.
