

Born April 16, 1922, John was a native of Woodruff, SC. He was the son of the late John L. Foster and Elizabeth Wiggins Foster. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
John served in the Civil Air Patrol as a Cadet and in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Boeing B-29 flight engineer-instructor in Texas during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. He retired from Honeywell Corporation after 29 years of service. During his retirement, John tour with the C.A.F. (Commemorative Air Force) as a flight crew member on the Boeing B-29 “FIFI”. John was a long time member of White Oak Baptist Church and the leader Sunday School class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 63 years, Doris G. Foster and brothers Paul and Stephen Foster.
Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Mary Foster of Travelers Rest, Bill and Marilyn Foster of Rock Hill; daughter, Gail Foster Elrod of Pendleton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are brothers, Melvin and Charles Foster; sisters, Alice Morgan and Aileen Wood.
A graveside service will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:30 am at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, with Dr. Jimmy Robinson of White Oak Baptist Church officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aurora Club at White Oak Baptist Church.
