Chris was born September 7, 1979 in Greenville, S.C. For the last fourteen years Chris has been living in Parkins 1, a group home in Greenville that is under the direction of “thrive upstate”, formerly known as the Department of Disablilties and Special Needs (DDSN).
Chris, beloved child of God, is survived by his parents, John and Sally Pellew of Greenville, and his sister, Lane Pellew of Memphis. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Jack and Beverly Skelton of Dunwoody, GA and John and Mary Pellew of Macon, GA.
Chris was unforgettable with his red hair and exuberant, and sometimes irrepressible, personality. He had a blissful innocence that endeared him to those around him. He enjoyed reading books, taking walks, swimming, and especially loved the inhabitants of “Fraggle Rock”.
John, Sally, and Lane would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff, both present and past, of Parkins 1 for their love, compassion, and acceptance of Chris. Thanks also to all of the health care professionals, teachers and friends, and especially the staff and congregation of Fourth Presbyterian Church for the outpouring of help and their support throughout Chris’ life.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Fourth Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Graham Fellowship Hall. A private interment will take place in the church memorial garden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church, 703 E. Washington St., Greenville, SC 29601 or The Greenwood Genetics Center Foundation, 113 Gregor Mendel Circle, Greenwood, SC 29646.
