

Judith Peace Harte was born on September 4, 1934, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Bony Hampton Peace, Jr. and Dorothy Pedrick Peace, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, leaving behind a radiant legacy of love, laughter, and warm memories. A graduate of Greenville High School and Agnes Scott College, where she earned a degree in History, Judy was a cherished soul whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met.
Judy was a storyteller extraordinaire, her wit and imagination bringing family history to life in ways that inspired and delighted. She fostered in her loved ones a deep appreciation for reading, learning, and the transformative power of travel. Her many passions—traveling to exotic destinations, viewing wildlife, cooking, sewing, needlework, gardening, and cherished moments with family—reflected her zest for life. A voracious reader, Judy shared her love of books, sparking curiosity and wonder in those around her.
Her deep faith in Jesus as her Lord anchored her life, and she passed on the strength of prayer and the joy of God’s love to her family. Judy’s generosity, warmth, and ability to see and meet the needs of others made her a true blessing to all who knew her. Her wisdom and joyful spirit will continue to guide and inspire.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 49 years, Nelson Norfleet Harte, Jr., Judy is survived by her children: Chandler Cobb (Jimmy) of Georgetown, SC; Dorothy Miller (Ben) of Moncks Corner, SC; Judith Fournier (Brian) of Rockingham, NC; and Nelson Harte III (Linda) of Aberdeen, NC. She leaves behind 10 beloved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings: Betty Stall of Greenville, SC; Estelle McClary of Georgetown, SC; and Bony Peace III (Diane) of Georgetown, SC. as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
Judy’s memory will forever shine in the hearts of her family and friends, her love and values an enduring light.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 11:00 am at Springwood Cemetery, 410 North Main Street, Greenville, South Carolina 29601.
