Nanny Pete lived her life to the fullest. With her gentle yet spunky personality she brought light and laughter wherever she went. If it shimmered, she wore it. If someone needed kindness, she gave it freely.
Her love for fashion was only rivaled by her love for the Lord and her devotion to her family. Her faith was a steady foundation in her life, guiding her with grace and strength. She loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and lived joyfully.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cole L. Hunnicutt Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.
Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Elledge, and her son, Cole Hunnicutt III, and his wife (Lisa Hunnicutt). She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Brittani, Kayla, Landry, Noah, as well as Devon Wilson who was like a grandson to her — each of whom was the light of her life. She is proud great grandmother to soon to be born Paxton Reid McCarthy. In her final months, she embraced every moment with them, fully present and overflowing with love. Family was her purpose, her pride, and her heart.
Nanny Pete dedicated many years of her career to Paragon Placement before later working at Henry Schein. Wherever she worked, she did more than fulfill a role — she built relationships, lifted spirits, and left behind a little sparkle that no one will forget.
To know her was to love her. She taught us to dress up, show up, love big, and trust the Lord through it all. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is shining even brighter now.
The family will be hosting a drop in Celebration of Life on March 22 from 2:00-4:00pm at the home of Melissa Elledge. We will celebrate in true Nanny Pete fashion, please wear yellow and bring high spirits! Please contact the family for exact address if needed.
Her sparkle, her sass, and her steadfast love will live on in all of us.
