Lily B. Phillips, 94, a long time resident of the Greenville area, died Thursday evening December 8, 2011 peacefully at her home. She was born May 31st 1917 in Manchester England where she met and married her husband Ernest P. Phillips during WWII. They were married for 60 years before his death in 2005. They came to the United States in 1945 and opened a prominent jewelry store in Greenville called "Phillips Jewelers." She is survived by three children: Ron Phillips and his wife Dawn of Simpsonville, Larry Phillips of Greenville, and a daughter Margaret Newton and her husband Robin of Greenville; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister: Gloria Johnson and her husband Floyd of CA. She is predeceased by four beloved grandchildren. The family would like to thank the McCall Hospice House staff for their care given to their mother. Funeral services will be Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
