Linda McLendon

Mrs. McLendon was born in Iuka, MS on March 10, 1923 to Earnest and Pearl Barnette. Her early life led her from Mississippi to Oak Ridge during the WWII Manhattan Project with husband Jack, where Jack led teams developing the nuclear materials that ended the War. In Oak Ridge, she was a member of First Baptist Church, the ’43 Club, Oak Ridge Women’s Club, and the Oak Ridge Garden Club.

She is survived by three children: J. Daniel McLendon, Jr. (Minerva) of Anderson, SC; Nancy McLendon McKay (Lanny) of Abbeville, SC; and Martin McLendon (Kathy) of Easley, SC; five grandchildren: Melanie McKay Alter of Seattle, WA; Deanna McLendon (Chuck) of Kenner, LA; Brent McKay (Vidya) of Cortlandt Manor, NY; Richard McLendon of Anderson, SC; and Julianne McLendon of Honolulu, HI; three great grandchildren: Madison Alter of Denver, CO; Eden Alter of Los Angeles, CA; and Leela McKay of Cortlandt Manor, NY.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Dominion Senior Living of Anderson for their loving care. Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC.
