Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Malinda was the daughter of the late Mordecai Nachman and Frances Brown Nachman. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen “Bill” Wentworth, her sister, Elizabeth Sue Nachman, and her son-in-law, Eddie Eugene Bridges.
Malinda was a proud graduate of Miami University and went on to become one of the first female stockbrokers in Greenville, paving the way for women in business. On June 22, 1964, she married the love of her life, Bill Wentworth. Together they raised their family in Conyers, Georgia, where they built the first cable television company in Rockdale County. Their entrepreneurial journey later led them to establish one of the first cellular telephone companies in Santa Barbara, California, which they sold before retiring in 1989.
A devoted and faithful Christian, Malinda lived her life guided by her belief in God and the power of positive thinking. She was never without a smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering faith touched everyone who knew her.
In retirement, Malinda and Bill made their home in Cocoa Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed many happy years together. In recent years, she resided in Simpsonville, South Carolina with her daughter and was able to spend years surrounded by her daughter, son, and wonderful grandchildren.
She was an incredible grandmother whose grandchildren adored her and brought her endless joy. Few things made her happier than time spent with her family, and her love for her grandchildren was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
She is survived by her son, William Allen Wentworth, and his children, Brantley James Wentworth and Olivia Frances Wentworth; her daughter, Linda Wentworth Bridges, and her children, Maxwell Reed Bridges and Lauren Ann Bridges; her sister, Frances Nachman Jones; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Malinda was deeply loved by all who knew her, and her legacy of faith, positivity and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm at Mackey Funeral Home at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
