Margaret Eugenia Tinsley Aiken

Clinton, SC

Margaret Tinsley Aiken, a resident of Oakleaf Village of Greenville, passed away on October 9, 2014 at Hospice of Laurens County in Clinton, SC, after several years of failing health.

She was born Nov 3, 1923, in Easley, SC, to the late Jones Frank and Mamie Lucinda Thompson Tinsley and was one of thirteen children.

Margaret was married for 56 years to the late William Gary Aiken.

They made their home in the Leawood community of Greenville, SC, and were members of Leawood Baptist Church which is now The Church at Cherrydale.

Margaret is remembered as a compassionate woman of strong faith with a kind and humble spirit. She loved the Lord, her family and her church. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by a daughter Phyllis and son-in-law Gary McConnell; grandchildren Alison Lemarechal (Franck) and Jonathan McConnell; and great grandsons, Alex and Max Lemarechal and Jack McConnell.

She also leaves sisters Willie Mae Hester, Esther Scurry, Elizabeth Ford and Leona Dill along with a brother, Neal Tinsley to cherish her memory.

In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was predeceased by brothers, Edison, John Henry and Ballard Tinsley and by sisters, Emma Lou Garrett, Frances Smith, Mary Epps and Evelyn Clay.

The family will receive friends at Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive, Greenville SC on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 4:30 to 6 pm.

A grave side service conducted by Pastor Reid Lehman will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Graceland East Cemetery, Simpsonville, SC.

Appreciation and love are extended to the Oakleaf Village staff, Agape Hospice and Hospice of Laurens County for their dedicated care of Margaret during her illness.
