Peggy, as her friends call her, was born April 5, 1945, in Lowell, Massachusetts to Thomas S. and Elizabeth V. Elwell. Her love for music was only outdone by her love for her family and for her Lord. As a girl, she played both piano and organ for Collinsville Bible Church and for regional evangelistic services. She used her gifts throughout her life playing for countless church services, accompanying singers and musicians, and honoring God with her talent.
Peggy graduated from the Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, NY and from the Nursing School at Lowell General Hospital. Wherever she went, she served in various counseling ministries and through teaching Sunday School and Ladies’ Bible Studies. Her prayer life, testimony, constant service to others, and sense of humor will never be forgotten.
Peggy is survived by her husband Robert and her three children, Deborah, Barbara, and Jonathan along with their spouses. Her 10 grandchildren, and her 10 great-grandchildren will miss their beloved “Ema and Grandmama.” She is also survived by her brother, Tom Elwell and his wife Barbara.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 4, at 3:00 in the afternoon at Greenville Christian Fellowship, 2220 State Park Rd. Greenville, SC 29609.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a ministry very close to her heart: Hidden Treasure Christian School in Taylors, SC.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mackeywoodlawn.com for the Jackson family.
